The vehicle was carrying about 30 people when it lost control and slammed into a sand barrier, leading it to overturn. How many injured individuals taken to local medical facilities remains unclear.
The journey originated in the state of Bahia and ended tragically in the city of Saloá, located in the adjacent area of Pernambuco.

Preliminary information indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, entering the oncoming traffic lane and hitting boulders on the shoulder. After that, the driver got back into the proper lane but then crashed into a sandbank, causing the bus to flip over.
The reason behind the accident is presently under investigation. The driver suffered light wounds and tested negative for alcohol consumption.
